Team Canada Cheerleading

So the International Cheer Union's World Championships is done and I am exhausted! This was an amazing experience to be able to document the teams progression throughout their preparation for this competition. Both teams put in an extraordinary amount of blood, sweat and tears over the last week and I hope that comes through in the pictures I have taken. I have endeavoured to not just take the pretty pictures of the successes but to also document the hardships and failures that were overcome by these teams. In the end Team Canada placed 4th in the all-girl division and 7th in the co-ed division which was a respectable placing considering the fierce competition in these divisions from around the world. I would like to thank all of the athletes, coaches and support staff for letting me take all of the pictures I did.

Perfect Timing

Here is a great shot from the Cobras routine showing just how precise and coordinated teams need to be. In this picture you see 3 girls all doing a toe touch at exactly the same time. In order for this to happen there was a total of 14 people who had to all do their specific jobs in harmony to make that happen. Great job guys!! 2013 Team Canada Gets Gold!

This is a picture of the 2013 Team Canada Cheerleading team (of which I was lucky enough to be a part) 5 min before going on at the Cheerleading World Championships. The hungry/nervous energy was palpable. We were the first team to go on the floor in our division, we were also the 4 time reigning world champions, all I could think about was that I really didn't want to be the guy who broke the streak.
